The wine farm “La Peschiera” belongs to the Bombini Gallo family.

It has a very favourable geographical position for the production of wine. It is in fact located in the valley of the Esaro river, surrounded by hills, near both the Ionian sea and the Pollino mountains.

Thanks to this particular microclimate the organoleptic qualities of our wines are very appreciated.

The firm was established by the Longo family in the second half of 1700. It was a liquorice factory. Thanks to its high quality, the liquorice was exported in Northern Europe and it was so wellknown to be mentioned in the Britannic Encyclopedia.

Around 1880 the factory expanded so much that the farm became a rural village, with schools and a church, where workers' families lived.

At the beginning of 1900 Luigi Longo and his wife Virginia Bombini inherited the firm. They ran it with great tenacity and strenght going through two World Wars for over 60 years.

At that time the farm had an extension of thousands of hectares where different cultivations and breeding were developing, among which the silkworm breeding.

Moreover, the surrounding forests provided wood for the shipping industries in Northern Italy.

After the Second World War the government expropriated the landowners thus reducing the extension of the farm.

During the 70s their niece, Virginia Bombini jr, together with her husband Fernando Gallo stepped in the managment of the farm and renewed it thoroughly. They reclaimed uncultivated lands and planted new orchards, olive groves and vineyards, thus giving the farm its current structure.

Today La Peschiera is a farm run by their son Alessandro Gallo who, together with his sisters Daniela and Flaviana, take care of its production.

Today the farm has an extension of 120 hectares of peach, apricot and citrus orchards and vineyards. The vineyards, which represent an ancient family tradition, extend for over 12 hectares and include all native vines, typical of this area: magliocco, aglianico, mantonico, pecorello, greco and moscato.

The wines are: a red wines “Siamisi” and “San Lorenzo”, a white wine “Jentilino” and a rosè wine “Abbaruna”.

All of them bare the state certification of quality DOP “Terre di Cosenza”.

“Terre di Cosenza”DOP

The state certification of quality DOP is a legal protection trademark given by the European Union to those wines with particular verified characteristics, typical of their area of production.

To gain this trademark the producer must strictly stick to the rules established by the production regulations. In particular, grapes used for the production of wines with the “Terre di Cosenza” certification must come from vineyards only located in the area of Cosenza.

All of our wines bare the state certification of quality DOP “Terre di Cosenza”.

Ho vissuto alle spalle del concio i miei primi sette anni di vita. Ho visto le foto dei luoghi dei quali ho un ricordo indelebile. La struggente bellezza che mi suggerisce la memoria mi spinge ad assaggiare i vini e a formulare auguri di prosperità e di sempre maggiori successi imprenditoriali.

A casa di amici mi viene servito questo vino bianco

Jentilino, Tenuta La Peschiera.

È bella la bottiglia, è elegante l'etichetta, è sobrio il logo. Al naso un bouquet fresco e ricco di sfumature olfattive di Natura che rinasce; all'occhio una pioggia di ninfa alle prime ore del giorno; al palato un piacevole retrogusto di giornate finite bene.
